Field Trip to Bhigwan (Ujjani Dam) on Sunday 28 January 2018
A ‘Birding Trip to Bhigwan (Backwaters of Ujjani Dam), will be conducted on 28 Jan 2018. Flamingos and other Winter Visitors like different types of Ducks, Storks, Gulls and resident birds like Cormorants, Coots, Dabchiks, Egrets, Stilts, Kingfishers and other birds of the wetland habitat (and shrub land habitat adjoining the waterbody) can be spotted in large numbers at the site. To observe the Flamingos, Painted Storks, Gulls and many of the other winter visitors at close quarters we have to hire boats with a capacity of 8 -10 persons at the cost of Rs 100/- per head.
Bhigwan (on the Solapur Highway) is approx. 100 Km from Pune and the travelling time by bus (with one short break) is approx. 3 hrs. In order to get adequate time for good ‘Birding’ we shall depart from Magarpatta City Main Gate at 6.30 AM sharp and return by 7 PM.
Registration will open on 15 Jan 18 and close on 25 Jan 18.
Registration will be confirmed only on receipt of an Advance (Non-Refundable) of Rs. 450 (in cash) by the undersigned at Row House A-1 ‘Erica’. Receipt of Advance will be confirmed by SMS. This amount will be adjusted against the cost of hiring the bus, toll charges, hiring of boats etc.
Cost of Breakfast (short halt at Urli Kanchan) and Lunch (Local Veg/ Non-Veg Thali) at Bhigwan is additional. Participants are advised to carry some snacks, adequate drinking water and refreshments as per their choice.
